My going green business journey started in 2021, but came into play in January 2022.
I have always been a nature lover and started going green in my personal life back in 2018.
What inspired this journey was when my business name changed from Teddie Armour Photography to Authentic Love Photography. All the business cards that were made before the name change are now wasted.
My search into electronic business cards is what really got the ball rolling. In that search I thought about the prints and products I offer my clients. I also thought about how I much I like to update the pictures in my frames or ordering new canvases. This idea brought me to my decision to only offer eco-friendly prints/photo-books/wall art. Next, I looked into a partnership with OneTreePlanted and became a business member! I pledge to plant a tree for every order placed with me. While searching for OneTreePlanted I did some research into 1% for the Planet and became a business member!
One thing I am thankful for as a small business owner, is the ability to easily make these decisions. I believe that I am forever learning and am constantly educating myself in ways I can improve my carbon footprint. Not just is my business, but in my personal life too.
Future plans for my green journey will be to keep checking with Aspiration to see when they offer a business bank account so I can work through them. As well as using seed paper for any printed promotional items. All props moving forward will be second hand (and thoroughly cleaned).
Not only does your photoshoot with Authentic Love Photography plant one tree for every order placed. Also, by supporting my small business it will add to my 1% for the Planet donation, but there are many small changes that make a huge difference. During our photoshoots I make sure to follow the “take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints” rule. This is now an official rule after leaving popcorn behind from a photoshoot. Yes the squirrels loved us, but it felt so wrong to leave it. Nature should stay wild, and I have a feeling caramel popcorn is not good for squirrels…
A few guidelines I like to follow for my photoshoots…
In-case you’re wondering if your photoshoot will be strict to follow these guidelines, no need to worry!
